Janet C. Scott
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Janet C. Scott is an experienced litigator. She is a cum laude graduate of Spelman College and holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Mercer University. She earned her law degree from John Marshall Law School, Atlanta, Georgia.
Prior to joining Seay/Felton LLC Trial Lawyers, Janet represented numerous Georgia school districts in high stakes matters. She has also gained litigation experience representing parties in misdemeanor criminal cases, employment, education, personal injury and insurance defense matters.
Janet is licensed to practice in all Georgia courts, including the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Georgia Supreme Court. She is also admitted to practice in the Northern and Middle federal district courts in Georgia.
Active in the community, Janet serves on the GABWA Foundation Board and the United States Selective Service Board for DeKalb County, Georgia. Janet is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
Further, Janet served as the 35th President of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) as well as co-Chair of the Aspiring Youth Program Committee and as the Director of the American Bar Association’s Awards for the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers’ Division.
Janet was named a Georgia Super Lawyer Rising Star 2016 and 2017; Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Who’s Who in the Legal community, 2016; Atlanta Business League’s 100 Women of Influence, 2016; and Rolling Out Magazine and the Steed Society’s “Top 25 Women of Atlanta,” 2015. In 2014, Janet was nominated for a Turnkett Leadership Character Award. She is also a graduate of Leadership DeKalb, Class of 2010. Janet was also recognized by the Georgia Young Lawyers’ Division for her outstanding service to the organization (2009 and 2010) and by the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers as a Scholarship Recipient and an Outstanding Law Student (2006).
Prior to practicing law, Janet taught middle school in DeKalb County, Georgia.
